Catherine Hankins CM MD PhD is Deputy Director, Science at the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development, University of Amsterdam and an Honorary Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Formerly the Chief Scientific Adviser to UNAIDS for almost a decade, she chairs the Scientific Advisory Group of the USA National Institutes of Health HIV Prevention Trials Network and CAPRISA’s Scientific Advisory Board in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal and is a member of several boards including AFEW and AIDSfonds. She cofounded CACTUS-Montreal in 1989 and was instrumental in shaping Canada’s harm reduction strategy, receiving the National Rolleston Award in 1994.
