Fransje van der Waals, MD PhD. From 1987-2000 Fransje van der Waals was assistant professor and head of the Women’s Health Studies Department, Academic Medical Center, and University of Amsterdam. In 2001 Fransje van der Waals accepted a part-time appointment at the International AIDS Therapy Evaluation Center (IATEC), affiliated with the Academic Medical Center of the University of Amsterdam as manager of the Family Study of Antiretroviral Therapy (FAST), a study of AIDS treatment in rural India. Since 2002 she is the founding director of HealtheFoundation. Fransje van der Waals published in the period 1979-2001 over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals. She published five books between 1983 and 1997 on subjects concerning women’s health.
