Annemarie Jorritsma (1 June 1950) has been Mayor of Almere, the fastest growing city in the Netherlands, since August 18, 2003. Prior to her service as Mayor, she was Minister of Transport and Water Management in the first cabinet of Prime Minister Kok. In the second cabinet of Prime Minister Kok she was the first female Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Affairs.
At this time, as of December 2013, Ms. Jorrittsma is the President of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR). As Mayor of Almere she also holds the position of Board chairman Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG).
