Professor Geoff Gallop was a Rhodes Scholar who was awarded a doctorate in political science from Oxford University in 1983. He was a Member of Parliament for twenty years including ten years as party leader and five years as the Premier of Western Australia. Since retiring from politics in 2006 Geoff has been Director of the Graduate School of Government at the University of a Sydney and has served on a number of government boards, most notably the Council of Australian Government's Reform Council and the National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission. In 2010 he became a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC). He also authored the book: Politics, Society and Self: occasional writings, in 2012.
