This visit leads to a municipal park called «Schützenmattpark» in Basel, where parts of the area have been planned explicitly for the elderly. These play and activities islands offer opportunities for a joint movement of young and old. Individual motion devices were constructed and a special environment was created. On the basis of the example the question is to be asked, to what extent stereotypes of old age play a role in neighbourhood planning and urban development? The visit is based on first interim results within the framework of a research project «Connecting elderly people to urban life: Towards a better understanding of ageing in place by rethinking stereotypes» from the School for Social Work, University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland.

Arrangements: 17.00 meet at the tram stop named «Schützenhaus» (Tram No. 1 or 8).
