Dr. Thomas Götschi is a senior research fellow in the Physical Activity and Health unit of the Institute of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention at University of Zurich, Switzerland. He is an environmental scientist and epidemiologist by training. Since 2008 his research focuses on active transportation. He has led projects for the Swiss Federal Departments of Transport, Planning, Statistics, the city of Zurich, and active transportation NGO’s. Core topics of his work include impact assessments of active transportation, incl. benefit-cost-calculations, data collection methods, safety studies, secondary data analyses of large population surveys. Currently he is leading the implementation of the European multi-center project Physical Activity through Sustainable Transport Approaches in the case study city Zurich. He is a member of the TRB Bicycling Committee and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Data Subcommittee.
