Alexander Bücheli, born 1975 in Zurich Switzerland, has over fifteen years of experience with prevention and harm reduction in recreational settings. He was from 2001 until 2015, in charge of the city of Zurich’s nightlife prevention offer, saferparty.ch and one of the mastermind behind the development of Zurich’s Drug Checking offer and the Safer Clubbing quality label. Today he is as freelances member of Zurich’s Night Major Council and mandated from the Bar and Club Commission Zurich, the Swiss Bar and Club Commission and PromoterSuisse as nightlife-lobbyist. On the international level, he is part of the Berlin Stadt nach Acht – Nights Conference organisation committee and president of the European NEWNet network. He is also active in different Swiss (e.g. Safer Dance Swiss) and European (e.g. NEWNet) nightlife prevention and harm reduction groups. His vision of the night, as harm reduction activist, lobbyist, night-major and nightlife community developer is not only focussing on health, it’s also about city management and the development of an attractive nightlife culture, to enhance the pleasure of going out.
