How to get to Basel
IMPORTANT last-minute information about trams in Basel - see below!
The closest airport to Basel is the EuroAirport Basle Mulhouse Freiburg (www.euroairport.com/) with onward transport by bus no. 50 to Basel main station (about 17 minutes). The bus runs frequently (7-15 minutes). Tickets have to be bought at the ticket machines at the bus stop. Taxis to Basel are available at the airport and cost around CHF 60.-
Another possibility is to travel to Zurich Airport ( www.flughafen-zuerich.ch) with onward transport by train to Basel main station. There are direct trains to Basel (about 90 minutes). You can also travel via Zurich main station and there change train to Basel main station (about 75 minutes). Tickets have to be bought before boarding the train on the ticket machines or the ticket offices (one-way, 2nd class, no reductions: approx. CHF 38.-).
In Basel the easiest way to travel is by tram or bus.
- In all hotels in Basel you get a mobility ticket that allows you to travel within the city for the time staying at Basel
- From some hotels your booking confirmation allows you to go with bus and tram from the airport and the railway station to your hotel.
IMPORTANT! In the time of the conference, unfortunately there is a total cancellation of trams around the uni-versity due to renovation of the tracks. From the main station, you can still go by bus number 30 directly to the university.
