City Health International 2023
Invitation to the 12th City Health International Conference, 27-28 April, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
City Health Conference is a global annual conference which focuses on public health and harm reduction issues with a particular emphasis on the challenges faced by cities and their potential. This year, for the first time the event will be hosted in Central Asia – Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). The two-day event comes at a time when there is increasing interest at what can be done at community and population levels to tackle a range of health and social problems. For 2023 we will be looking at the need and benefits of effectively responding to the harms associated with drugs, alcohol, and non-communicable diseases. These issues do not exist in isolation, and we have a particular interest in examining these issues in their social and policy context.
The programme for the conference is designed to address, through a critical lens, questions about these relationships and ask not only what the role for public health is in the modern world but also consider which agencies and stakeholders have a vital role. City Health 2023 will provide an environment to exchange knowledge and to consider how we can most effectively respond to these major health issues, outside own silos and consider how these diverse issues can be tackled across the national and international stage.
